House Concert a big success

November 15th, 2015 Debra Mann

Playing music for people is one of my great joys.  In honor of Joni’s 72nd birthday on November 7th, I hosted a house concert for which I was the performer and host.  As many of you know, Joni Mitchell has been a source of inspiration for me as far back as when I was a teenager. Her music is so well loved that the event quickly sold out.

Most of my gigs are collaborations with other musicians but, on this particular night, I returned to a solo format.   The concert took place in my studio where my 7′ Mason and Hamlin piano resides.  There were enough seats to accommodate 15 lovely guests. It was a very intimate evening of music and conversation.

Although it’s not traditional to be both host and artist for a house concert, it was, by all measures, a big success.   And, so much so that, I am already percolating about doing it again.  Perhaps a holiday theme.  What do you think?  I’d love to hear from you.
